JOB TITLE: Inventory Control Specialist

PROGRAM: Second Harvest Food Bank

SALARY RANGE: $14.00-16.00 per hour

The Inventory Control Specialist assists with warehouse operations, food solicitation, and logistics, as well as performs data entry, prepares reports, and assists in the reconciliation of member agency invoices.The Inventory Control Specialist coordinates with local, national, and Feeding America food donors to ensure that all donations are recorded properly, scheduled for pick-up in a timely manner, and receipted properly based on the source of the product. 


  • Provides accurate data and statistics concerning the receiving and reporting of food bank donated and purchased food products and operations including, but not limited to: placing product in inventory by location and type; maintaining product; receiving; and receipting.
  • Assists in random cycle counts of inventory to ensure accuracy and proper storage location.
  • Assists the Operations Manager in the timely research and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Assists with receiving, receipting, and donor relations in accordance with both SHFB policies and
    procedures required by Feeding America. Ensures product is placed in inventory and available to
    agencies in a timely manner
  • Provides technical assistance to member agencies and trains new users on the online ordering and
    reporting systems.
  • Responds to inquiries and requests related to food donor issues, including account managers at Feeding America.
  • Researches new sources of food donations, in conjunction with the Director, the Development
    Coordinators, and the Operations Manager.
  • Assists with coordination of food recovery and donor practices within the Feeding Pennsylvania
  • Works with Warehouse Supervisor to ensure that donation pickups and deliveries are scheduled in a
    timely manner, paying attention to donation pickup deadlines.
  • Records data and keeps accurate records as required by donors.


  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Experience in warehouse and inventory management preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and computers required
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize and keep accurate records
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
